Why Big Banks are so Nervous About Bitcoin

Week 1

The first blog I read was thefinancebar.com. This blog provides readers with helpful advice about managing their finances and how to best use your money. One thing I noted that the blogger, Marsha, excels at, is disclosing certain information pertaining to legal matters. Before many of her posts, she states “This post contains my own thoughts and opinions but is sponsored by….”. With the overwhelming growth of the Internet and social media, influencers sometimes to do not disclose when and if they are participating in sponsorships. When a blogger is writing a post letting readers know about something they support, they should be honest with their readers by disclosing all information before getting into the blog post itself.

Secondly, I read carolineinthecity.com’s blog. This particular blog is a travel blog in which the blogger, Caroline, writes about her travels and her expectations versus the reality when going abroad. One thing I noted that she does exceptionally well is including graphics and images in her posts. Especially for travel blogs, showing your audience exactly what you are talking about is extremely important.

Lastly, I read deliciouslyella.com’s blog. The author, Ella, is a food blogger that documents her creations in the kitchen and shares her recipes with her followers. Being that it is a food blog, pictures are essential to having an engaging and entertaining post. Ella takes artistic but also informative photos to allow the reader to follow along, step-by-step.

The three blogs that I read had various target audiences and subject matters. The finance blog is for those looking for real-world help dealing with their finances. Travel blogs are for those looking for help on where to plan their next vacation, and food blogs are great for people who want to learn new tricks in the kitchen. Though these three blogs are very different, all provide readers with useful information about whatever it is they are talking about. However, one downside I have noticed in many blogs is the length. Personally, I feel as if blog posts should be longer than a Facebook status but shorter than a novel. Oftentimes, I find that blogs carry on and on, causing the reader to lose interest.
