Curriculum Changes:

Liberty University announced that changes will be made in regard to graduation requirements for students so they will be better educated.

Liberty University’s president, Jerry Falwell declared that changes will be made in the graduation requirements for the students. This was decided in hopes to create more educated and prepared individuals. The new requirements will take effect in the upcoming fall semester.

Arrest:

Senior at Vanderbilt University was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol for the third time in six months Friday night.

Cathy Benson, a 22-year-old senior at Vanderbilt University was arrested Friday night for driving under the influence of alchohol. This was the third time it had happened in the past six months.

Record Weather:

The weather office reported that Port Columbus experienced the hottest temperature since 132 years ago at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.

In Port Columbus the weather was unseasonably warm at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. So much so, that the high of 82 degrees was the hottest temperature for this date since 1888.

Protest:

A local pastor led a group of citizens in protest against Virginia Tech for allowing evolution to be taught to students in biology class.

A protest was held against Virginia Tech for allowing the teaching of evolution in a biology class taught by Laura Cliff. The event was led by Wilbur Straking, the pastor of the Ever-Faithful Church of the Living Water.

Lawsuit:

Amburn’s Produce Market was faced with a $100,000 lawsuit for negligence after a woman sued Saturday.

On Saturday a lawsuit worth $100,000 was filed in Circuit Court against Amburn’s Produce Market. Ellie Maston slipped on green beans that had been left on the floor and broke her hip. This accident that sparked the lawsuit occurred April 1 of this year.

Agreement Announced:

The strike scheduled for midnight Friday was called off after the president of the Ambrose Steel Company and the president United Steelworkers Local 923 reached an agreement.

The strike that was set to occur Friday at midnight was canceled once Clyde Parris, the president of Amrbose Steel Company and Charles Pointer, the president of United Steelworkers Local 923 made an agreement. If it had gone as planned, it would have resulted in both sides suffering major losses. The new contract and its details will be announced tonight to a meeting of the union.
