The strike scheduled for midnight Friday was called off after the president of the Ambrose Steel Company and the president United Steelworkers Local 923 reached an agreement.

The strike that was set to occur Friday at midnight was canceled once Clyde Parris, the president of Amrbose Steel Company and Charles Pointer, the president of United Steelworkers Local 923 made an agreement. If it had gone as planned, it would have resulted in both sides suffering major losses. The new contract and its details will be announced tonight to a meeting of the union.
