When I was scrolling through instagram I noticed this post because of the picture. Lets look at why this post was eye catching and used design principals.

Color & Contrast

In this photo you can see the contrasting color in the eyes and it makes the photo very interesting to look at. Overall, the colors of the eyes draw attention. Eyes are naturally a curiously popular topic and subject matter among us as humans. We all love our eyes and eye colors. The contrast in eye color in the image make it a popular topic.

Composition & Layout

In this photo we see how the subjects in the image were put side by side and have exactly half their face. I think this is composed well, even though it breaks the not half rule. It helps you see the purpose in the contrast.

Alignment

The subjects in this photo were perfectly aligned. You can see how their noses and eyes and lips both match up. This helps make the photo consistent.

In conclusion. The overall design draws attention because of the contrasting colors, composition layout, and the allignment. It is able to break the not half design rule.
